KARACHI – The Sindh government has appointed Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh as the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic in Karachi.
The development comes after the provincial government removed Pir Muhammad Shah from the position. The official notification regarding this change has been issued.
The reshuffling comes in the wake of severe criticism over the poor traffic management that contributed to a delay in the arrival of the fire brigade team at the site of a deadly blaze at Gul Plaza.
The fire, which caused the tragic loss of over 70 lives, exposed serious shortcomings in the city’s traffic control and emergency response coordination.
