LAHORE – The Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged an annual lunch of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) 2026 in befitting manners at City Campus Lahore.
Education Minister Punjab Rana Sikandar Hayat was the chief guest of the event while Member Provincial Assembly Ms Shagufta Faisal was the guest of honor. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I), Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dr Ajaz Rashid Chief Executive Officer East Windsor Animal Hospital USA and a number of faculty members, Senior UVAS Alumni, representatives from public & private sectors industries (pharmaceutical, animal nutrition, dairy, poultry & livestock) and students were present in the DVM lunch.
Different activities like funny poetry & speech, songs, skit performed by students and views by industry representatives featured the event.
While addressing the audience, Rana Sikandar Hayat said that we urgently need to work on livestock fattening, value addition and local breeds of cattle and buffaloes so that the production of meat and milk in the country can be significantly increased and along with this, the genetics of cattle and buffaloes can also be further improved. Rana Sikandar Hayat further said that this year, honhaar scholarships and laptops will also be given to the DVM students of the UVAS. He also said that a man is always great only through his own work, especially those who play a key role in the development of the country and nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus welcomed the newly arrived DVM students and advised them to study with full dedication and hard work and learn professional skills, while congratulating the students who completed their degrees. He said that Rana Sikandar Hayat is a dynamic minister of Punjab who is playing an exemplary role in the development of the education sector. Emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship (starting your own business), he advised the students to start their own businesses in the future and play a key role in making the country prosperous and promoting veterinary education. He informed the audience that the university has launched five new degree programs at the Ravi Campus Pattoki and has also increased the number of students in UVAS. He said that the Training Center for Biologics Production (TCBP) for the prevention of foot-and-mouth disease was also made functional at UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki which will prove to be a great help in making the livestock sector further development. He said that UVAS achieved a prominent position at the national and international levels due to its quality of education and research and is rapidly setting its development goals. He also said that the UVAS also won projects worth five billion. Prof Younus appreciated and congratulated the efforts of all the organizing committees for organizing the excellent lunch and also thanked the sponsors for providing financial support.
Ms Shagufta Faisal advised the students to study with full dedication and hard work and said that the role of leadership in the academic and research achievements of UVAS is commendable.
Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani said that the relationship between a teacher and a student is not limited to the educational institution but rather continues throughout the life. She said that students who are studying should acquire academic and practical knowledge related to the field and pay special attention to improving their personality.
At the end of the program, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus along with other dignitaries also distributed certificates of appreciation among the members of the organizing committee and sponsors.
