Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued warnings as northern Pakistan continues to experience intermittent rainfall and snowfall, intensifying the winter chill across multiple regions.
Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are facing strong winds along with precipitation, while high-altitude areas are blanketed in fresh snow.
In Swat, intermittent rain in Mingora and surrounding areas has caused a sharp drop in temperatures. Upper Swat’s mountains and popular tourist destinations, including Malam Jabba and Kalam, are witnessing a combination of rain and snowfall.
Authorities have confirmed that all roads remain clear, and tourist police have been deployed to ensure safe travel for visitors.
Mansehra is experiencing its second consecutive day of rainfall, while snowfall continues in Kaghan Valley, Naran, Batakundi, Besal, Babusar Top, and surrounding high-altitude regions.
The ongoing precipitation has significantly increased cold intensity in mountainous zones, while rainfall in lower areas is helping reduce dust and seasonal illnesses.
PMD forecasts that this weather pattern will continue intermittently, bringing colder conditions to Mansehra’s plains in the coming days.
Abbottabad has recorded its second day of rainfall, further lowering temperatures, while the Galiyat region sees intermittent showers. Islamabad and nearby areas remain cold with partly cloudy skies following early morning rain.
Elsewhere, most parts of the country are expected to experience cold and dry weather. Fog and smog may persist in eastern Punjab and upper Sindh, affecting visibility during morning and nighttime hours.
Murree and the Galiyat region are expected to receive additional rainfall, with snowfall continuing over higher altitudes.
