Pakistan Business Council marks 20 years at the 4th edition of Dialogue on the Economy – Pakistan Observer

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Business Council (PBC) launched 4th edition of its Dialogue on the Economy 2025 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, coinciding with its 20th anniversary of shaping Pakistan’s business environment. The two-day event brought together senior ministers, policymakers, economists, global partners, and business leaders to discuss the country’s economic direction.

PBC Chairperson Dr. Zeelaf Munir, in her keynote address, stressed Pakistan’s economic progress relies on stability, evidence-based policy, and long-term reforms. She highlighted the need for collaboration between government, business, academia, and civil society to drive sustainable growth.

The conference featured notable speakers, including Jameel Ahmad, Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan; Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue; Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, Federal Minister for Planning & Development; and Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ahmed, National Coordinator of SIFC. Discussions covered key issues such as monetary policy, fiscal reforms, geopolitical opportunities, climate resilience, and barriers to competitiveness.

PBC CEO Javed Kureishi stressed the need to reimagine Pakistan’s economic model, pointing to opportunities in technology, artificial intelligence, mining, and energy, while underscoring the importance of clear and consistent policy to boost investor confidence.

The dialogue will continue with sessions on taxation, trade, energy transition, digital economy, privatization, and institutional reforms, aiming to foster coherence across institutions and unlock Pakistan’s economic potential. PBC reaffirmed its commitment to working with policymakers, businesses, and international partners to strengthen economic governance and drive sustainable growth.
