Probe launched after Airblue ‘allows’ extra passengers to board flight at Karachi airport – Pakistan Observer

KARACHI – An investigation has been launched after a private airline of Pakistan allowed two extra passengers to board a flight, causing a delay and confusion for over 170 passengers at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

Reports said the incident occurred on Airblue’s flight PA 206, which was bound for Islamabad.

The airline’s management authorized the boarding of two additional passengers, despite the fact that all available seats had already been allocated. When the aircraft was taxiing for takeoff, the captain noticed the extra passengers and raised an objection.

Upon realizing the error, the pilot immediately instructed the crew to return the plane to the parking area and unload the unauthorized passengers. Reports revealed that the two extra passengers were employees of the airline itself.

After the passengers were removed, the captain confirmed that the flight would proceed as scheduled. However, due to this unexpected delay, the flight, originally set to depart at 5:00 PM, was delayed by approximately 90 minutes. This caused significant inconvenience for the more than 170 passengers on board.

The Karachi airport authorities have confirmed the incident, and the Pakistan Airport Authority has ordered an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the overbooking and the unauthorized boarding of passengers.
